Can I get my boxes back?
Yes. Your material is deposited into a secure container. We do not take or shred boxes.
Should I remove stapes?
No. Staples, paper clips and other metal fasteners are acceptable.
Do you shred CDs?
Yes. Please keep them separate from paper.
Are there items you cannot shred?
Yes. Here’s a list of items that contaminate the paper and make it difficult for recycling:
  • Books
  • Phone Books
  • Magazines
  • Photographs
  • 3-Ring Binders
  • Hanging File Folders (Pendaflex®)
  • Plastic
  • Labels
  • Plastic Mailer Bags*

Am I required to make an appointment?
No. The drop off service is a walk-in, however, hours vary by location. Some locations are open 7 days a week. Check the home page to find days and hours of operation.
How do I know my material stays secure until it is shredded?
Security is of utmost priority and concern. Material remains double-locked until it is shredded. Additional security factors are:
  • Shred It for Less™ partners are carefully screened and follow security protocols.
  • Shred It for Less™ locations are equipped with 24-hour surveillance.
How will I know when my material is shredded?
You can elect to leave your name to receive a Certificate of Destruction. We never share your personal information with anyone!
Has there ever been a breach in security?
No. The service was established in 2009. 13 years later, there has never been a breach in security.
Do you shred my material in front of me?
No. The material is shredded when the location’s containers fill up. Shred Connect offers on-site shredding by appointment. You can reach the office at 562-600-8711.
What if I accidentally gave you something to shred and need it back?
When you drop your material off, the container is unlocked and the lid is opened. At this point, you dump your material (keeping the box/bag). Once the material is deposited in the container, the chain-of-custody changes. We ask that you make sure before you drop off your material that you do not want it back.
If my material isn’t in the box you price by . . . how is cost determined?
The manager will provide you with a visual estimate.
